Lovespirals Release Video for Meanwhile Irreplaceable Time Flees/Insignificant

Lovespirals has released this lovely music video set to the songs “Meanwhile Irreplaceable Time Flees” and “Insignificant” from their 2010 album, Future Past. It was filmed and edited by Lovespirals guitarist Ryan Lum, his first ever music video production. Shot on location at Two Harbors on Santa Catalina Island and in the band’s Chillcuts and Chillcast studios.

Lovespirals ‘Feel So Good EP’ Out Now

Lovespirals’ second single from their 2010 album, Future Past, is “Feel So Good.” Last December, Sony Acid Planet held a remix contest for Lovespirals’ funky, Pink Floyd-esque, retro electro-rock tune, and over 40 producers put their own unique stamp on the original track. The new Feel So Good EP features the very best of the bunch. There’s the slinky trip hop grooves of Yumenomado’s grand prize winning “Film Noir Mix” and Noizz Factor’s jazzy “Glamour Mix,” both of which have a decidedly organic feel. Or check out the more electronic oriented mixes by DJ Chris and National Pool, who rely more on loops and classic drum machine patterns. If you’re into heavy beats, then the Electer and 7 Day Visa mixes should fit the bill. Def Men Walking took the song in a completely different direction with the addition of MC work and an old school Manchester feel. And then there’s Jack Ketch’s “Peckaries Parts 1, 2 & 3” which takes the song’s most Floydian elements and constructs an ode to the classic rock band that David Gilmour himself would likely chuckle over. Anji Bee‘s soulful vocals hold the release together with their delicate balance of earthy sensuality and otherworldly ethereality, with each mix playing up different aspects. While some producers left the arrangement and vocal sound nearly untouched from Ryan Lum’s original mix, others played with sampling or pitch to use the voice more as a musical element. This is a digital-only release available on most major online music stores, but you can pick up the Feel So Good EP for just 99¢ directly from the Lovespirals Webstore.

March 2011 marks the 5th Anniversary of The Chillcast with Anji Bee, the twice-nominated “Best Podsafe Music Podcast,” on the Mevio Network. Since 2006, Bee has had over 5 million downloads of nearly 300 audio episodes and 55 video episodes, featuring approximately 1,500 bands and artists in a wide range of electronica genres guaranteed to soothe you and groove you.

To mark this historic occasion, Bee has assembled an hour long compilation, 5 Years Of Chillin’, featuring brand new unreleased tracks by Chillcast regulars MoShang, Chill Factor-5, 7 Day Visa, Lovespirals (Bee’s band with partner, Ryan Lum) and Anji Bee, herself — plus hard to find tracks by Adam Fielding, Mr. Meeble, and The Grooveblaster, as well as a few favorite songs by Ernesto + Markus Z, Under, Science for Girls, Sunburn in Cyrpus, Steve Kilbey + Martin Kennedy, and Karmacoda (who collaborated with Lovespirals on a modern version of the classic Americana spiritual, “Motherless Child”). The album was mastered by Robert Rich of Soundscape Productions, with assistance by Lum – who also shot the cover photograph – while Bee designed the album artwork and attendant promotional graphics.

All of the artists have generously donated their music gratis, and Bee will be making this musical collection available for free download through music sites including Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Last.FM, and Mixcloud. A small pressing of eco-wallet promotional CDs is now available as well.

Lovespirals Video for Believe

Back in 2008 and 2009 when Lovespirals were creating their 4th album, Future Past, the duo captured some of those behind-the-scenes moments on various video formats. Including intimate clips of them during the songwriting, recording, and production process — as well as time spent at various beaches in their native Southern California to recharge their creative batteries — this video montage gives fans an excellent look into the lives of indie musicians, Ryan Lum and Anji Bee. Making this video extra special is that it’s set to the band’s favorite song from the album, “Believe.” All video footage was shot by Anji and Ryan, and edited together by Anji.

Lovespirals ‘Love EP’ Released

The first single from Lovespirals’ fourth album, ‘Future Past,’ to get the full remix treatment is “Love” – an atmo drum ‘n’ bass tune that recalls some of the duo’s earliest work together. A half dozen producers from totally different musical schools of thought took the poppy yet ethereal vocals of Anji Bee and set them to completely new musical scores. From angular drum ‘n’ bass, to lush downtempo, to atmospheric ambient music, this moody collection covers a lot of sonic ground. Remix producers include Soul Whirling Somewhere, 7 Day Visa, Divasonic, Falling You, Xurba, and Chill Factor-5.

The band are so excited about the release of this single that they’re giving away every remix FREE! Lovespirals’ 4th full-length album, Future Past, was just released this week on the iTunes Music Store. Individual songs are available in non-DRM 256k AAC for just $.99 each or buy the full album for $9.99. The band offered Future Past digipac CDs and digital downloads over the holiday season exclusively on the Lovespirals Webstore, but the official album release date is January 1, 2010. Popular online music store, CDBaby, is also offering Future Past in both CD and digital download formats. More stores will be following soon.

Reactions thus far have been extremely positive, with many fans claiming Future Past to be Lovespirals’ best album to date. Even with the extremely limited holiday season release, some have included Future Past in their “best of 2009″ lists, including Green Arrow Radio and several Last.FM bloggers:

Shine is Track of the Day on Garageband

The first single from Future Past, “Shine,” has been selected as Alternative Pop “Track of the Day” on music site, Garageband. The accolade comes as part of the ongoing music contest for this unique site, where songs are judged by fellow musicians on a number of criteria. “Shine” was featured on the site earlier as the “Best Female Vocals” in Alt Pop for the week of December 7, 2009.

This is an ongoing contest judged by site users, primarily musicians who are also participating in the contest held by this unique i-Like owned music site. Songs are judged in an anonymous fashion, with the reviewer having no information about the track other than the soundfile itself until after they have rated it and posted their review comments.

“Quite a haunting song. Nice mood with the Rhodes, and the female singer has a sexy voice which works really well when layered. Reminds me of the French band Air. Good sound, well done.” – Kal Moore

Lovespirals Go Green With ‘Future Past’ Digipac

Lovespirals band founder, Ryan Lum, proclaimed that the band’s last album, Long Way From Home, would be the final one to come out on CD. But response to such claims in interviews and the band podcast, Chillin’ with Lovespirals, was consistent amongst fans; they want a physical product, not just a digital one. So the band scrapped their plans to release one or two digital-only EPs per year and returned to their original format, the full-length album. This time around, however, the eco-conscious duo decided to do their homework before going with their usual compact disc manufacturer. The resulting packaging is one that the fans are sure to love, and that the band can feel good about. Future Past will be Lovespirals’ first digipac, printed on 100% recycled stock with 100% recycled plastic trays, printed with vegetable-based inks and coated with water-based biodegradable varnishes. You can hear Ryan and Anji talk about the CD packaging — and hear a clip of the opening song from Future Past — on Chillin’ with Lovespirals #70.

After launching the new Lovespirals.com, we are extremely pleased to launch the brand new Anjibee.com Like Lovespirals’ recent update, the new Anjibee.com now has a much cleaner design and user interface, more multimedia content, and better connectivity with twitter, facebook, and other social networking sites.

Lovespirals are extremely excited to announce the long awaited launch of their brand new site design! A cleaner design and user interface, more multimedia content including audio and video, and better connectivity with twitter and other social networking sites are among the updated site’s improvements.

In their Episode 65 of Chillin’ With Lovespirals podcast, Ryan and Anji give you a rundown of the history of their website and the various changes it has gone through over the years. They fill you in on the critical decisions they made in redesigning and upgrading their decade old site.
